形容词性从句

大家应该还记得，英语中有且仅有三种从句：名词性从句、形容词性从句和副词性从句。今天的主角就是：形容词性从句。

一、为什么会出现形容词性从句？

在回答这个问题之前，我们先看几个句子：

我喜欢那个女孩.
I like that girl.

我喜欢那个漂亮的女孩.
I like that beautiful girl.

我喜欢那个漂亮的并且英语说的很好的女孩.
I like that beautiful girl who can speak good English.

通过观察上面的句子，我们不难发现并得出结论：找不到形容词A来形容“英语说得很好的”，这个时候就需要形容词性从句来完成这个功能。

一个句子做了形容词的功能，就叫做形容词性从句。

形容词性从句本质就是形容词，所以要么形容人（who/whom/whose），要么形容物（what/which/as）。这些都是关系代词。

Who： This is the man who saved my life.
Whom：This is the man whom I saved.
Whose：This is the man whose life was saved by me.

that： This is the book that I read.
which：This is the book which is very popular.
as：You always work hard, as everybody knows.

当关系词附近出现逗号或者介词的时候，只能用which，不能用that。

I like climbing mountains, which is good for my health.
This is the room, in which I spent my whole childhood.

As的用法：

• as不可指代具体的某个词，一般指某件事，其引导的定语从句可以置于句首，也可以置于句末；

As is planned, we got there before eight.
They won the game, as we had expected.

• 当句子中出现such/the same 时，用as。

He is not such a fool as he looks.

另类形容词：when/ where/ why，这时它们是关系副词。

I can never forget the day when I met her.
I can never forget the place where I met her.
I can never forget the reason why she dumped me.

特别的，含有way/time 的定语从句中，关系词常常省略。

I don't like the way (that/ in which) he treated me.
The way (that/ in which) he explained to us is quite simple.
This is the first time (that) I come here.
This is the last time (that) I shall give you a lesson.
I like the way (that) you speak English.
I like the way (that) you smile.

The man who/that is speaking at the meeting is a worker.
These are the trees that/which were planted last year.
The woman whom they wanted to visit is a teacher.
I konw the girl whose mother is a teacher.
I have a friend who/that likes listening to classical music.

The speed at which you drive your car mustn't be too high.
The man to whom I talked is Mr.Li.
I don't like the way in which you speak to her.
Is this the library from which you borrow books?
The wolf by which the sheep was killed was shot.

He is such a nice person as is popular.
It is such a beautiful picture as attracted many people.
As you've pointed out, he proves to be the best student here.
As we all know, the earch is round.

I'll never forget the days that/which we spent together.
I'll never forget the day when I joined the league.
This is the house where I lived two years ago.
Do you know the reason why she was late?
